After a disappointing situation yesterday regarding a dinner reservation arranged through the concierge, I felt it was important to share my experience with the management at The Peninsula Shanghai. What truly impressed me was not only the immediate response, but the genuine care and attention that followed. Mr. Chon personally came to speak with us, sincerely apologized, sent wine and fruits to our room, and today was personally waiting for us downstairs, kindly offering the hotel’s Rolls-Royce for our transfer to the airport. This level of hospitality is rare. It’s not about gestures alone — it’s about people who truly understand what luxury service means. The Peninsula Shanghai is fortunate to have someone like him leading the guest experience. People like this are what make a hotel unforgettable.

We always wanted to stay at The Peninsula and this was the best hotel we stayed in China. From the check-in to the service everywhere, it was excellent. The rooms have old world luxury and were huge. The rooftop bar has great views of The Bund.

One of the finest hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The Peninsula Shanghai truly sets a new benchmark for luxury and hospitality. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional — warm, professional, and attentive to every detail. I was especially touched by how respectfully the hotel accommodates guests from different nationalities and religions. Finding a prayer rug and a copy of the Quran thoughtfully placed in our room meant a great deal to us. It reflected not only the hotel’s high level of cultural awareness but also the gracious spirit of the people of China. This stay gave me a very positive impression of Chinese hospitality — respectful, genuine, and delivered with sincerity. Every member of the team we encountered showed kindness and professionalism, and it truly showed the beautiful values and warmth of the Chinese people. The room was spacious, elegant, and impeccably clean, with a stunning view. Every detail, from the design to the service, made this stay unforgettable. I highly recommend The Peninsula Shanghai to anyone visiting the city. It is without a doubt one of the best and most memorable hotel experiences in Shanghai. 谢谢你们的热情款待。 🙏✨

Our stay at The Peninsula Shanghai was truly comfortable and memorable, it was our first time staying at the hotel. Before our arrival, I informed the hotel that we would have some packages delivered in advance. The staff kindly received and stored everything for us, and even prepared a lovely birthday cake, which made us feel very welcomed. The breakfast at the hotel was excellent, with high-quality selections and a great overall experience. I would like to especially commend Lucy from the Concierge team. After I returned to the U.S., I received a package sent by a friend, and Lucy went out of her way to coordinate via email and arrange for the package to be forwarded to my specified address. Her thoughtful and professional assistance made the entire process seamless and reassuring. This kind of attentive, professional, and genuine service perfectly reflects the Peninsula brand, and it truly enhanced our experience. We left with a very positive impression.

They deliberately mislead us over a tiny, petty matter and that really turned us off. Our original booking was for two nights. With check-in, we receive $100 credit for our room. Then our plans changed due to exhaustion and weather. We canceled our roundtrip train tickets to Beijing, canceled our hotel in Beijing, made a new booking for one night at this same Peninsula hotel. We were supposed to get $100 credit with this booking. They told us in the morning that we could keep our same room (checkout and re-check not necessary) and they would honor the new check-in credit. Now, in the evening, they are using the lack of checkout as an excuse to DISHONOR the credit we are entitled to. Very petty behavior. We did not expect this type of trickery from what we thought was a prestigious property.
